Cambria county extends voting hours to 10 p.m. after ballot scanning issues

To help voters, the County Board of Elections has made sure that express voting machines are available at polling places.

A judge extended voting hours in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, to 10 p.m. ET due to a software problem that affected ballot scanning. All votes will be counted.

In Cambria County, Pennsylvania, a judge has decided to extend voting hours until 10 p.m. ET. This decision comes after a problem with the voting system caused confusion for many voters. The software malfunction made it hard for voters to scan their ballots.

Elections officials want everyone to know that if you want to vote, you will not be turned away. Every vote will be counted. Michael Whatley, the Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), has urged voters to stay in line and make sure their ballots are submitted, despite any delays.

Early in the morning, the Cambria County Board of Elections learned about the software problem. Ron Repak, the County Solicitor, explained the situation in a statement.

He said the problem happened with the County's Electronic Voting System, which prevented people from scanning their ballots correctly. Repak emphasized that this should not stop anyone from voting at their precincts.

He reassured voters that all completed ballots will be accepted, kept safe, and counted by the Board of Elections.

To help voters, the County Board of Elections has made sure that express voting machines are available at polling places. This means people can continue to vote electronically, but they also have the option to use hand ballots if they prefer.

If voters cast their ballots after the usual closing time of 8 p.m. ET, they will use provisional ballots. A provisional ballot is a special type of ballot used when there are questions about a voter's eligibility. This measure ensures that everyone's vote is still counted even if there are issues at the polling place.

Whatley shared his thoughts on social media. He acknowledged that there are some delays at the polling stations. He asked voters to be patient and to stay in line. He urged everyone to fill out their ballots completely and to deliver them properly. He also mentioned that lawyers for Pennsylvania are watching the situation closely to ensure that everything is fair and accurate.

Election officials are working hard to resolve these issues. They are dedicated to making sure that all voters can participate in the election without any further problems. It is crucial for everyone to understand their rights when it comes to voting. If you encounter any issues, do not hesitate to ask election officials for help.
