Ed Sheeran apologizes after interrupting Ruben Amorim’s interview

Sheeran, who is known for his music career, has also shown a passion for football.

Ed Sheeran apologized after interfering Ruben Amorim's Sky Sports interview. The singer accidentally interrupted the conversation following Manchester United’s draw with Ipswich.

Singer Ed Sheeran caused a bit of a stir after interrupting an interview with new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim. The incident happened after United’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Amorim was speaking to Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates and pundits Roy Keane, Izzy Christiansen, and Jamie Redknapp when Sheeran made his unexpected entrance.

The singer, who is a huge Ipswich fan and a minority shareholder in the club, was in the stands for the match. Sheeran was excited to greet his friend, Jamie Redknapp, but in the process, he interrupted Amorim’s live interview.

As Amorim answered questions about the match, Sheeran ran onto the set, gave Redknapp a big hug, and created an awkward moment on live TV. While Redknapp tried to calm the situation by telling Sheeran to wait and say hello later, Amorim didn’t seem happy about the interruption.

Sheeran quickly realized his mistake. On Monday, he took to social media to apologize to Amorim.

He wrote: “Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday. Didn’t realize he was actually being interviewed at the time. I was just popping to say hi and bye to Jamie. Obviously, feel a bit of a b******, but life goes on. Great game though, congrats to all involved.”

Despite his apology, many viewers on social media weren’t pleased with the interruption. Some fans felt the moment was rude and awkward. One Twitter user called Sheeran an “egotistical clown,” criticizing him for interrupting a serious interview. Others agreed, saying it was disrespectful to Amorim, and some even suggested he should avoid interviews with Sky Sports in the future.

The incident has raised questions about respecting interviews and the importance of being mindful of live broadcasts.

Sheeran’s intentions may have been harmless, as he is a known Ipswich supporter, but the timing and setting made the situation uncomfortable for everyone involved.

For his part, Amorim didn’t react strongly to the interruption, but his body language suggested he wasn’t pleased. The interview carried on after the brief moment of confusion, but fans were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts on the unusual scene.

Sheeran, who is known for his music career, has also shown a passion for football.

His involvement with Ipswich Town, where he holds a small stake, shows how deeply connected he is to the sport. But this time, his attempt to have a friendly moment with Redknapp didn’t go as planned.

In the end, it was a lighthearted but unfortunate moment. Sheeran’s apology seemed genuine, and many fans have moved past the incident. However, the event did stir up a conversation about respect in the world of sports media, especially when it comes to interviews during live broadcasts.
