Elon Musk's Twitter harassment of federal employees proves 'DOGE' is all hype

Billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy were chosen to lead this initiative. While it sounds official, DOGE is just a presidential advisory committee. This means it has no real power and is unpaid. The name itself — a nod to a popular internet meme — makes many question how serious this program is.

Musk and Ramaswamy promised to slash waste and “delete” federal agencies. But cutting government jobs isn’t as simple as it sounds. Federal salaries make up a tiny part of the budget. Eliminating jobs won’t lead to big savings. This plan seems more about appearances than actual results.

Elon Musk isn’t waiting for authority. Instead, he’s using Twitter to target federal employees directly. He has singled out individuals, often women, criticizing their roles.

This harassment has scared some workers, with one even deleting her social media accounts. CNN reports that some employees now fear for their safety.

Musk’s Twitter followers, known for toxic behavior, are piling on. Critics say this shows Musk’s desire for power and his disregard for the people behind the government.

Musk often calls their jobs “fake.” But many of these employees do essential work, like managing clean energy transitions or protecting food supplies. These workers often accept lower pay to serve the public.

Experts argue Musk’s attacks reveal his own insecurities. He may be rich, but he envies those who work for the greater good. Instead of respecting them, he lashes out to feel powerful.

DOGE is not a real department and cannot fire employees. Musk’s online bullying may be his way of compensating for DOGE’s lack of authority. Reports suggest Trump himself is already losing interest in the project.

Even Musk’s idea of making government jobs so unpleasant that employees quit won’t work. Fewer employees wouldn’t fix the budget or the efficiency issues Musk claims to target. It’s more about drama than solutions.

Musk isn’t alone in targeting experts. MAGA supporters often distrust people like scientists, educators, and government workers. Influencers like Curtis Yarvin have fueled this mindset. Yarvin calls experts part of a so-called “cathedral” and wants decisions based on ignorance instead of knowledge.

This appeals to people like Musk, who resent those with expertise. It creates a warped view where highly skilled, low-paid workers are seen as enemies.

Musk’s actions show his desperation. He can’t fire anyone and uses Twitter to scare workers into quitting. But history shows bullies often rely on fear, not actual power.

Federal workers and others targeted by Musk can resist. Standing firm against harassment can weaken these kinds of tactics. Musk’s loud threats are a sign of his own weakness, not strength.

Musk’s DOGE isn’t about saving money or fixing inefficiency. It’s a performance meant to stir drama and distract from real issues. Federal workers play a crucial role in society, and their work matters far more than Musk’s online stunts. Standing up to bullies like him is how we protect fairness and keep expertise in decision-making.
