Angus, a member of the Canadian Parliament, made waves this week when he defended Canada against Trump’s attacks and threats of tariffs. He said that Trump’s actions and words were unacceptable, and he won’t allow the U.S. president-elect to push Canada around.

Angus spoke to Ben Meiselas from the MeidasTouch Network, explaining that he was simply standing up for Canada. "It's really simple," Angus said.

"We’re going to have tough negotiations, but we won't stand for this kind of dismissive, childish behavior." He called Trump’s comments "idiotic" and even went as far as to call him "juvenile."

This back-and-forth started after Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on goods coming from Canada and Mexico. The president-elect blamed both countries for allowing migrants and fentanyl to enter the U.S., causing problems for the American people. His harsh words and tariff threats led to even more tension between the two nations.

Trump recently met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Mar-a-Lago, but the meeting didn't go smoothly. According to reports, Trump jokingly suggested that Canada could become the "51st state" if his tariffs ruined its economy. This remark was met with uncomfortable laughter from Trudeau and others in the room.

To make matters worse, Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Monday, mocking Trudeau by calling him the "governor" of the “great state of Canada.” This only added fuel to the fire, angering many Canadians.

Angus was quick to respond. In a speech on the floor of the Canadian House of Commons, he reminded everyone that Canada has always stood strong, even against its powerful neighbor, the U.S. "We’ve stood up to America before," Angus said, emphasizing that Canada will continue to defend its sovereignty.

He didn’t stop there. Angus also pointed out that Trump is a "convicted predator" who is "undermining the democratic process" in the U.S. He added that Trump should not think he can push Canada around just because the two countries share a border. "He insults us, and we will not tolerate that," Angus said.

Angus also made it clear that Canada will fight for its values. "We will counter falsehoods with truth," he said. "We will be a good neighbor, but we won’t be pushed around."

Canadian officials have also hit back at Trump’s tariff threats. In Ontario, the province with the largest population, officials warned that they could stop purchasing U.S.-made alcohol and even limit electricity exports to the U.S. if Trump follows through with his tariffs.

Angus stressed that Canadians are not afraid to stand up for themselves, even if they usually avoid confrontation. "Canadians are not going to be slapped around like this," he said. He believes that Trump is playing a dangerous game, using anger and division to get attention.

"He’s playing for the rage algorithms," Angus said, referring to how Trump’s behavior seems to provoke strong reactions online.

Finally, Angus had a message for Trump: “Come to Canada in the winter,” he said. “Try to drive our roads. Try to win an argument with any woman in Canada. We’re tough and resilient people.”

With these words, Angus made it clear that Canada is ready to stand firm in the face of Trump’s threats and insults. Canadians are not backing down, and they are ready to defend their country, no matter what.
