John Krasinski shares his wife Emily Blunt’s excited reaction to his “sexiest man alive” title

John Krasinski, known for his roles in "The Office," "Jack Ryan," and "A Quiet Place," has been named People magazine’s "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2024. The actor, writer, and director has a lot of fans, but even he was surprised by this honor.

The news comes after actor Patrick Dempsey was named last year's “Sexiest Man Alive.” Krasinski, 45, was given the title this year, and the announcement left him in shock. 

He spoke to People magazine about how he felt when he first heard the news. Krasinski admitted that he was so surprised he had an “immediate blackout” and couldn’t think of anything except wondering, “Am I being punked?” 

He explained that he never wakes up thinking, "Today is the day I will be named the Sexiest Man Alive." But that’s exactly what happened.

Krasinski laughed at how unexpected the honor was. He even said, "You guys have really raised the bar for me." But it wasn’t just him who was surprised. His wife, Emily Blunt, had a funny and excited reaction to the news.

Krasinski and Blunt, who have been married for 14 years and have two children together, shared a sweet moment after he got the news. Krasinski revealed that there was “a lot of joy involved” when he told Blunt. 

She was very excited and joked that she would print the magazine cover and use it as wallpaper. Krasinski laughed and said, “Do we have that on camera? Because that’s like a binding contract, I think.” He even joked that his kids would love it, but it might be a little weird.

Though it was a happy moment, Krasinski joked that this new title might lead to him having to do more household chores. He shared this funny thought while speaking on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where the announcement was first revealed.

The moment was also special because Krasinski had a slip-up before officially telling his family. He said that the first person he told about the honor was actor Matt Damon. 

Krasinski had gone to Damon’s birthday party right after the shoot for the magazine. When he arrived at the party, he was a little late, and Damon asked him why. Krasinski, not being able to keep it to himself, blurted out, "People’s Sexiest!" It was a funny moment, and he even jokingly name-dropped Matt Damon during the interview.
