In a post on her Instagram Story, Barrera said, "Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity, no water... People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING."
Barrera, who appeared in 2022's Scream and Scream VI, both released this year, has been actively expressing her views on social media regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the militant group controlling the Gaza Strip in Palestine.
Barrera's termination from the upcoming horror film installment follows United Talent Agency (UTA) severing ties with Susan Saradon. Saradon faced criticism for her remarks during a pro-Palestine rally in New York City last week.
During her speech, Saradon expressed concern about the fear faced by Jewish individuals and how it parallels the experience of Muslims in the country. She advocated for attentive listening and relying on factual information before responding. Saradon also emphasized the importance of engaging in conversations.
Furthermore, she suggested that it wasn't necessary to delve into the entirety of the region's history. Instead, Saradon believed that focusing on the devastating impact on innocent lives, such as the deaths of babies in incubators and the love families have for each other, should be sufficient evidence of underlying issues.
