Jelly Roll appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform his new song "Burning." Martin Short, guest hosting, introduced him. The band and backup singers joined Jelly Roll on the outdoor stage for an upbeat performance, complete with fire.
Jelly Roll then sat down with Martin Short to talk about writing songs in prison and his recent single, "I Am Not Okay." He teased his upcoming album, set for release this fall, saying, "Jelly Roll's music favors the fall." He also announced 16 new dates for his upcoming arena tour.
He confirmed the tour will include Canada, which is significant given his past challenges touring outside the U.S. due to his criminal record. "It took America 38 years to let me leave, and now I have to convince other countries," he told Short. He also asked a few "Canada questions" about the language and what they call Canadian bacon.
Earlier this month, Jelly Roll released "I Am Not Okay," his first solo song since his 2023 album, *Whitsitt Chapel*. This track is also the first single from his next album.
He debuted it on the season finale of *The Voice*. Just a week before, he premiered another unreleased song, named "Liar," at the 2024 ACM Awards. Both tracks are expected on his upcoming LP.
Jelly Roll’s tour starts on August 27 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Over the past few months, he has played several festivals and made notable guest appearances. At Stagecoach, he covered Toby Keith's "Should've Been a Cowboy" with T-Pain.
At Welcome to Rockville, he was seen performing The Who’s "Behind Blue Eyes" with Limp Bizkit. At Hangout, he performed the song "Sweet Home Alabama" with Lana Del Rey. In Dallas, he joined Kid Rock for "Cowboy" in a Cybertruck. Most recently, in Detroit, he performed an updated version of "Sing for the Moment" with Eminem.
