Gaza telecom companies warn of coming blackout

The two main telecommunications companies in Gaza Paltel and Jawwal have issued a joint statement that their network is running on battery power as they have run out of fuel. They further warned that a complete telecommunications blackout is imminent within a few hours. This situation has arisen due to the Israeli siege on Gaza, resulting in a scarcity of fuel supply.

The main data centers and switches in the region are gradually ceasing operations as a result of fuel depletion. 

According to the companies, all generators powering the network elements in Gaza have stopped working, and essential network components are now relying on batteries. 

Laith Daraghmeh, the CEO of the Palestinian telecommunication regulatory authority, said that there is a countdown for the cessation of communication and internet services in the Gaza Strip. He added that discussions are ongoing with international institutions to secure the necessary fuel for the operation of the communication services. 

Palestinian Communications Minister Yitzhak Sidr previously warned on Sunday that communication and internet services would cease in Gaza by Thursday due to fuel depletion.
