10 Indians arrested in Dhaka

DB Police arrested 10 Indians along with huge amount of Indian clothes and cosmetics from a house in the capital. They were arrested in a raid on a house in Merul Badda on Thursday (March 7) morning.

According to DB, the arrested used to bring Indian goods to Bangladesh by evading customs duty by rail. Among them 5 can show Indian passport but the rest have no passport.

The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police announced the arrest of 10 Indian people associated with a cross-border smuggling ring accused of trafficking expensive stolen mobile phones. According to a statement from DMP, the group was reportedly engaged in selling stolen Indian phones, such as iPhones and Samsungs, in Bangladesh, as well as trafficking phone sets stolen from various locations in Bangladesh to India. 

Additional Commissioner of DMP Haroon Or Rashid said that these Indian products brought in by evading duty were sold in the country. Where do the expensive phones stolen from Bangladesh go, basically they found this gang while investigating them.

The DB head of DMP also said that these accused used to change the IME number of the stolen phone and send it to India. He also said that the owner of the house where their godown used to sell these products online.

The details of these criminals have not been released yet.
