In Solingen, Germany, a shocking attack happened at a city festival celebrating its 650th anniversary. On Saturday, German police said a 26-year-old man turned himself in, claiming he was behind the deadly knife attack. This assault left three people dead and eight hurt.

Attack Details

The attack occurred on Friday night during Solingen’s “Festival of Diversity.” The festival was meant to be a fun event with live music and entertainment. But it turned into a tragedy when a man started stabbing people with a knife in front of a festival stage.

Investigation and Claims

The man who admitted to the crime had been arrested before, but there are no details about his past. Police and prosecutors are currently looking into his involvement in the attack.

Earlier, the Islamic State (IS) claimed they were behind the attack. They said it was to get revenge for Muslims in Palestine, but they did not provide any proof. Officials have not been able to confirm this claim.

Suspect and Witnesses

Police also arrested a 15-year-old boy who was suspected of knowing about the attack but not reporting it. However, he was not the attacker. Two women reported hearing the boy and another person talking about plans that matched the attack's details.

Victims and Aftermath

The victims included two men, aged 67 and 56, and a 56-year-old woman. The attacker seemed to target their throats on purpose. The festival was canceled, and police are still looking for clues in the area.
