“Princess Diaries 3” is all set, with Adele Lim directing. Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews are back, and the movie is set to continue the beloved story of Mia Thermopolis. Production is in full swing, with excitement growing for the third installment.

Miracles really do happen! Fans of The Princess Diaries are in for a treat as the long-awaited third movie is finally on its way.

After years of hoping, Princess Diaries 3 is moving forward with Adele Lim, the talented director behind hits like Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon. Lim will be leading the charge to bring this much-loved story back to the big screen.

In an exciting announcement, Lim shared her excitement about joining the project. “As a huge fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to help bring the third movie to life,” Lim said. She’s eager to bring back the magic of female power, joy, and mentorship that made the first two movies so special.

The original films starred Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis, a regular girl who suddenly finds out she’s the queen of a small European kingdom called Genovia. Julie Andrews played her royal grandmother, guiding her through the ups and downs of royalty. Both Hathaway and Andrews are expected to return for this new chapter.

Anne Hathaway couldn’t wait to share the news with her fans. She posted a fun video quoting one of Mia’s most iconic lines: “Shut up!” from the first movie. She’s not just acting this time either—she’s also producing the film under her production company, Somewhere Pictures.

The movie is being produced by Debra Martin Chase, who also worked on the first two films. Hathaway is teaming up with Chase again, and Naia Cucukov, Lim’s producing partner at 100 Tigers, will be an executive producer alongside Melissa Stack.

The movie promises to continue the story from The Princess Diaries (2001) and The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement (2004), not a reboot, so fans can expect the story to pick up where it left off.

The script is being written by Flora Greeson, though plot details are still under wraps. But given the success of Lim’s past projects, the third installment is sure to be a hit. Lim is known for her amazing work on Crazy Rich Asians, which became one of the most successful romantic comedies ever. She also directed Joy Ride in 2023, showing her skill in both writing and directing.

Fans have been waiting for news about Princess Diaries 3 since Hathaway first teased the possibility in 2022. And now, it’s officially in the works! With such a talented team behind the project, excitement is building as everyone looks forward to the next chapter in Mia’s royal adventure.
