Ben Affleck’s wild mood swings played a major role in his split with Jennifer Lopez. Sources say his sudden and extreme changes in mood created distance between them. Even with their strong feelings for each other, Affleck’s unpredictable behavior became too much.

A source told PEOPLE, “There was a lot of love, but Ben’s mood swings were obvious to everyone. He went from being very happy to very troubled.” It was clear that he struggled to manage his emotions.

Since their separation in April, which Lopez noted in her August 20 divorce filing, the couple tried to fix their marriage. However, Affleck’s changing moods made things too difficult. “They tried to make it work, but the mood swings made it impossible,” the source said.

Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, the second anniversary of their Southern wedding in Georgia. They had previously married in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022. They spent much of the summer apart, living on different coasts. Lopez chose to file for divorce on their anniversary, showing she was done waiting. “She tried hard, but is heartbroken,” a Lopez insider said.

The couple’s children are still a top priority. Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme, and Affleck’s kids, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, come first. “The kids always come first,” the source added.

Jennifer Lopez Filed for Divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday 

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, ending months of rumors about problems in her marriage to Ben Affleck. The date is meaningful; it marks exactly two years since their wedding at Affleck’s Georgia estate, their second wedding after a Las Vegas ceremony.

Fans of Bennifer 2.0, who had hoped for a happy ending, are disappointed. Lopez and Affleck first got engaged in 2002 after meeting on the set of “Gigli.” Their relationship ended before they could marry, but their reunion brought back old memories for many Hollywood fans.

Not everyone was happy, though. Lopez’s former fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, felt hurt when Lopez and Affleck got back together. Rodriguez, who was engaged to Lopez from 2019 to 2021, was reportedly “shocked” and deeply upset when he saw Lopez with Affleck again. 

Their breakup was linked to his alleged messages to reality star Madison LeCroy.

Rodriguez has since moved on and is now dating fitness influencer Jaclyn Cordeiro. Though it was his new relationship, some noticed a puzzling message on his Instagram after Lopez’s divorce news came out.

Back in June, when rumors of Lopez and Affleck’s issues first started, a source said that Rodriguez felt karma had caught up with him. “He felt like she left him for someone better, and it hurt him deeply,” the source said.
