On Wednesday, September 11, President Joe Biden called for Israel to take full responsibility for the death of Aysenur Eygi, a US-Turkish activist.
Eygi, who was 26, was killed by Israeli forces while she was attending a protest against Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Eygi had been participating in the weekly demonstrations against these settlements, which are considered illegal under international law. Biden also mentioned that violence from both Israeli settlers and Palestinian extremists has been ongoing for too long. He stated, “I will continue to support policies that hold all extremists – Israelis and Palestinians alike – accountable for stoking violence and serving as obstacles to peace.”
