In an Instagram post on Sunday evening, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer seemingly resolved any prolonged tension between herself and Timberlake by showing her admiration for his new song.

Timberlake's latest track was released on Friday and quickly got the top of the iTunes Top Songs chart. However, it was soon surpassed by Spears' own 2011 hit, also titled 'Selfish,' just one day later, thanks to her dedicated fans.

Britney Jean Spears, an American singer, is frequently recognized as the "Princess of Pop" due to her significant impact on the resurgence of teen pop in the late 1990s and early 2000s. With a remarkable global record sales of over 150 million, Spears has established herself as one of the most successful music artists worldwide.

Justin Randall Timberlake, an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor, is widely acknowledged as the "Prince of Pop" for his immense influence on the entertainment industry. Considered one of the most influential performers of his generation, Timberlake has left an indelible mark on the music scene.

This chart battle comes in the wake of Spears' revelation in her memoir about having had an abortion during her relationship with Timberlake, which lasted from 1999 to 2002. As a result, Timberlake has faced renewed criticism from Spears' fans.

In response to the controversy, Spears took to her now-private Instagram account on Monday morning to express her apologies for certain aspects mentioned in her book. She sincerely expressed regret if any of her words had offended those she genuinely cares about.

Following the publication of her memoir "The Woman in Me," Spears revealed that Timberlake was not pleased with the news of her pregnancy. At the age of 18, Timberlake expressed his belief that they were not prepared to have a child and that they were too young.

In response to the book's release in October 2023, Timberlake temporarily disabled comments on his Instagram account due to the backlash from Spears' devoted fan base, as reported by Page Six.
