Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has sought more cooperation from Beijing to smooth the development progress of the country. She expressed her hopes that Bangladesh-China relations will be strengthened. Chinese Communist Party leader Sun Haiyan, who is visiting Bangladesh, expressed the same hope.

Sun Haiyan, Vice-Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, joined a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganabhaban on Thursday morning. A meeting was held between the two leaders there.

Communist Party leader Sun Haiyan congratulated Sheikh Hasina on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping on her re-election as Prime Minister. He said, "Xi Jinping was sure about the re-election of Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister. Because, her love for the country and the people and she was committed to change the destiny of the people.

San Saiyan expressed hope that the Prime Minister's activities in the socio-economic development of Bangladesh will continue and the work of transforming the country into a prosperous and developed country will continue at a fast pace. In this context, the Chinese Deputy Minister mentioned his multiple visits to Bangladesh since 1991. He stressed the need to increase cooperation between China and Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina advised San Haiyan to visit rural areas to see the 'real change' in Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister told San Haiyan that the government is working tirelessly to complete the unfinished works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and now is the time to change the destiny of the countrymen by giving them a better life. For this he wants China's cooperation.

The Chinese Vice Minister emphasized on strengthening the relationship between the Communist Party of China and the Bangladesh Awami League by increasing the developmental programs.

The Chinese delegation met at the speaker's office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Thursday (January 25). In the meeting, they discussed many issues including bilateral friendly relations, business and trade, Rohingya issue, Bangabandhu's visit to China, parliamentary activities.

Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said Bangladesh has a long-standing friendly relationship with China. This relationship can be further strengthened through the exchange of parliamentary norms and parliamentary alliance groups between the national parliaments of both countries.

She said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman visited China in 1952 and 1957. A lot is known about China by reading Bangabandhu's book 'Amar Dekha Nayachin'.

Rohingyas have been living in Bangladesh for a long time. She requested China's cooperation in repatriating Rohingyas to Myanmar. Later, the Speaker thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for sending Chinese observers to the 12th National Parliament Elections and congratulating the Awami League government that won the elections.

Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that China has been a long-standing trusted partner of Bangladesh. The Communist Party of China is keen to expand the area of trade and economic cooperation with Bangladesh.

She congratulated the newly elected government and invited the Speaker to visit China.
