China reports record $1.2 trillion trade surplus for 2025, defying Trump's tariffs.

Former Vice President Dan Quayle has warned that the United States is falling behind China in military strength. He says China has been making big advances in building powerful weapons and technology. Quayle thinks the two presidential candidates need to pay more attention to these dangers.

China's Rapid Military Growth

According to Quayle, China is creating new weapons like autonomous (self-operating) drones, super-fast missiles, and space weapons. While the U.S. still has the biggest air force, China now has the largest navy. They are preparing for the wars of the future.

Quayle also said that America’s military equipment, like ships and planes, is getting old. Meanwhile, China is spending a lot of money on new weapons. "China is moving faster than us in important military areas," Quayle wrote.

China’s Threats to Taiwan

Quayle is very worried about China’s actions toward Taiwan. Recently, China held military exercises around the island, showing they might want to take control of Taiwan. Quayle believes China’s goal is to replace the U.S. as the world’s strongest country.

But China is not the only threat. Quayle also warned about Russia, Iran, and North Korea. He said these countries want to hurt the U.S. and make it weaker.

Risk of World War III

Quayle said people are talking about the risk of World War III, but it’s not a joke. He believes the U.S. needs to come up with smart plans to stop this from happening. He urged U.S. leaders to take these threats seriously and make strong plans to keep the country safe.

Foreign Policy Ignored in the Election

Quayle criticized the 2024 presidential candidates for not talking enough about foreign policy. Foreign policy is how the U.S. deals with other countries. Instead, they are focusing on issues inside the U.S., like inflation and immigration. Quayle thinks the next president will have to spend a lot of time fixing problems around the world.

Russia’s Growing Ambitions

Quayle is also very concerned about Russia’s actions. He said the war in Ukraine might just be the beginning of a bigger problem. Quayle compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to old dictators from the 1930s. He said giving in to Putin’s demands now would be a big mistake.

He pointed out that Russia has already invaded countries like Georgia in 2008 and took over Crimea in 2014. He believes Putin will always want more land and power.

Middle East Instability

Quayle also talked about the troubles in the Middle East. He said much of the problem is caused by Iran. He believes there won’t be peace in that region until there is a change in leadership in Iran.
