Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has accepted Fox News' offer to hold a debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. The debate is scheduled for September 4. Trump announced his decision in a post on Truth Social late Friday.

"The rules will be like my debate with Sleepy Joe," Trump said, referring to President Joe Biden. He mentioned that the debate would have a full arena audience. Biden, who has since dropped his reelection bid, was mentioned as being treated poorly by his party.

Trump first suggested a "major" town hall gathering on the same date if Harris was "unwilling or unable to debate." However, he removed this idea before reposting the announcement.

Harris had responded last month, saying she was "ready" after Fox News proposed the debate for September 17.

Biden dropped out of the race on July 21 and endorsed Harris. At that time, Trump said he would not debate Harris because she was not the official candidate.

Trump also noted that former President Barack Obama had not yet endorsed Harris, questioning her support. However, Obama endorsed Harris the next day. On Friday, Harris secured the delegate votes needed to win the Democratic nomination.

This debate is a big event in the 2024 presidential race, with both candidates getting ready for an important face-off. Stay tuned for more updates as the date approaches.
