DU Hall's Declared 'Political Free', Obaidul Quader says for Nationwide Strong Stand

After six people lost their lives in various parts of the country in the conflict surrounding the quota reform movement, the agitating students showed their anger against the Chhatra League in Dhaka University.
Central Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, University Branch Chhatra League President Mazharul Kabir Shayan and General Secretary Tanveer Hasan Saikat, the hall rooms of many leaders of the organization were vandalized. The agitators took control by throwing out the BCL leaders and declaring most of the halls 'Political Free'.
After that, the first emergency meeting of DU Syndicate was held at the office of Vice-Chancellor ASM Maqsood Kamal on Wednesday (July 17) morning. The meeting ended without any decision. After that, the members of DU's highest policy-making forum syndicate headed towards the VC's house. The meeting was called on an urgent basis regarding the current affairs of the students.
Dhaka University has been declared closed indefinitely after the meeting.
Bangladesh government has decided to keep government primary schools in the city closed for an indefinite period keeping in mind the safety of the students.
General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that BNP-Jamaat wants to do corpse politics around the quota movement. Yesterday Tuesday, through their conspiracy and incitement, Chhatra Dal-Chhatrashibir rioted the situation all over the country, especially in Dhaka. A few fresh lives fell out of it.
Obaidul Quader said these things in the chief guest's speech at the exchange meeting with the ward councilors of Dhaka District and Dhaka Metropolitan (North and South) Awami League and City Corporation on Wednesday morning. This exchange meeting was held at the Dhaka District Awami League office in Tejgaon.
Obaidul Quader said that the quota movement is not the movement of ordinary students, BNP, Jamaat, Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir are trying to turn it into a movement to bring down the government.
The Bridge Minister said that the Sheikh Hasina government is tolerant to any demand. The younger generation will get into conflict, it is not desirable. But if it hurts the liberation war, if it destroys state resources, if it causes people's suffering, the government has to be strict there.
Obaidul Quader said that the assistant proctor of Dhaka University was beaten in Shaheed Minar area.
This is barbaric behavior. He also said that Sheikh Hasina did not give concessions if someone from Bangladesh Chhatra League committed a crime.
Sheikh Hasina has the honest courage to punish even the members of the party if they commit crimes.
The protestors will hold a funeral procession and coffin procession at the Dhaka University (DU) campus today in connection with the death of students in clashes with the police and Chhatra League leaders and activists during the ongoing movement demanding quota reform in government jobs.
On Wednesday (July 17) morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police Chief Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid said that a vested interest group is trying to divert the general students' movement demanding quota reform. DB has got the list of names of all the conspirators in that group. An operation will be conducted against them soon.
