Mukesh Ambani, who holds the 11th position in the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index as of 30 January, possesses a total wealth of $108 billion.
On the other hand, Gautam Adani, from the Adani Group, is ranked 14th on the billionaire's index and has a net worth of $95.9 billion.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which was introduced in March 2012, is a daily assessment of the wealthiest 500 individuals globally, determined by their net worth. It showcases a comprehensive profile of each billionaire and incorporates a functionality that enables users to compare the financial status of various billionaires.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index, Elon Musk continues to hold the title of the wealthiest person on the planet, possessing a net worth that surpasses the combined net worth of Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani.
Elon Musk, renowned for his various roles such as founder, chairman, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX, as well as being an angel investor, CEO, product architect, and former chairman of Tesla, Inc., owner, chairman, and CTO of X Corp., founder of the Boring Company and xAI, and co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI, boasts a staggering net worth of $204 billion.
Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur, was recognized as the wealthiest person globally, amassing an approximate net worth of US$232 billion as of December 2023, as said by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Forbes, on the other hand, estimated his net worth to be $254 billion, primarily valued to his ownership stakes in Tesla and SpaceX.
However, it is worth noting that on 28 January, Forbes reported a shift in this position, with Bernard Arnault, the Chairman and CEO of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), surpassing Elon Musk as the richest person on Earth.
According to Forbes, the net worth of Bernard Arnault and his family, the French billionaire, stands at $207.6 billion, placing him ahead of Elon Musk, who secured the second position with $204.7 billion.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani, the wealthiest person in India and Asia, witnessed a rise in his wealth by $2.8 billion, reaching a total of $101.8 billion. This increase was attributed to the surge in shares of his flagship company, Reliance Industries Ltd., which closed at a record high with a 2.6% rise on 12 January. Notably, Mukesh Ambani rejoined the prestigious $100-billion club for the first time since June 2022, as reported by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
In 2024, the 66-year-old chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, reclaimed his status as a centi-billionaire.
In January, Gautam Adani briefly overtook Mukesh Ambani to become the wealthiest person in India. As per the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index, Adani held the 12th position while Ambani dropped to the 14th rank.
In the previous year's December, Adani climbed up to the 16th spot on the Bloomberg list of richest people worldwide. This rise in rank was attributed to a remarkable 30% increase in his wealth over two sessions, amounting to a surge of over $4.41 billion.
