Musk posted on Monday that Wilson was “born gay and slightly autistic” and claimed she would pick out clothes for him as a child, calling them “fabulous.” Wilson, 20, responded on Threads, calling this depiction an untrue gay stereotype, and stated, “I never picked out jackets for him to wear, and I was most certainly not calling them ‘fabulous’... I was four.”
Wilson added that Musk “doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn’t there, and in the little time that he was, I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness.”
In recent years, Musk has embraced right-wing politics, sharing anti-immigration, anti-DEI, and anti-trans posts on X. In an interview with Jordan Peterson, Musk claimed he was “tricked” into signing medical documents for Wilson’s transition during the COVID-19 pandemic and vowed to “destroy the woke mind virus.”
Musk has faced criticism for anti-trans comments, including a derogatory tweet about gender pronouns. Under his leadership, X has rolled back safety protections for transgender people. Last year, he declared the word “cisgender” a “slur” on the site.
In 2022, Wilson legally changed her name and gender, stating she no longer wishes to be related to Musk. This week, she reaffirmed her identity, stating she is “legally recognized as a woman in California” and encouraged Musk to “touch some grass.”
