Alain Delon, the celebrated French actor, has died at the age of 88. He passed away peacefully at his home in Douchy, France, surrounded by his three children and family. Delon was renowned for his roles in classic French films from the 1960s and 70s, earning a reputation as one of cinema’s most compelling figures.

Delon’s career began in the late 1950s and soared with his roles in films like "Plein Soleil" (also known as "Purple Noon"), "Le Samouraï," and "Rocco and His Brothers." His striking appearance and intense performances made him a star in French cinema. Born in 1935 in Sceaux, a suburb of Paris, Delon left school at a young age to work and later served in the French navy before beginning his acting career.

Throughout his career, Delon appeared in over 90 films and worked with renowned directors such as Jean-Pierre Melville, René Clément, and Luchino Visconti. Despite attempts to break into Hollywood, he remained a prominent figure in French film. Delon’s personal life often drew media attention, including publicized family disputes and legal troubles in recent years.

In recent times, Delon’s health had been declining, and he had largely retreated from the public eye. His final major public appearance was in May 2019 when he received an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. His family has requested privacy as they mourn his loss.
