Justin Timberlake's return to Saturday Night Live immediately sparked anticipation for Barry Gibb's inevitable appearance. Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon bring back The Barry Gibb Talk Show, marking its seventh appearance on the show after a break of over ten years.
Justin Randall Timberlake is a highly esteemed American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. Renowned as the "Prince of Pop," he holds a significant position as one of the most influential entertainers of his era.
James Thomas Fallon, an American comedian, television host, actor, singer, writer, and producer, has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. Renowned for his contributions to television, Fallon rose to prominence during his time as a cast member on the popular NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1998 to 2004.
The Barry Gibb Talk Show is a regular skit on Saturday Night Live, showcasing a talk show hosted by Barry Gibb, the renowned lead vocalist of the Bee Gees, alongside his brother, Robin Gibb. This amusing sketch was brought to life by writers Ken Scarborough and Steve Higgins, who drew inspiration from an idea presented by Fallon.
The Gibbs, along with Bowen Yang, Keenan Thompson, and host Dakota Johnson, continued to use the Bee Gees' Nights on Broadway as the foundation for their parody. Fallon's Barry Gibb humorously remarked, "You resemble what would happen if Don King devoured another Don King." He then confidently stated, "I have no fear; I watched Saltburn with my entire family and was aware of the bathtub scene beforehand."
Adding his legendary status, he added that, I have not shed a tear in 77 years, except when watching the Australian show Bluey. If one does not shed tears while watching Bluey, they cannot be considered a true man.
The sketch initially debuted in 2003 when Timberlake hosted and Fallon was still a member of the staff. Timberlake and his then-girlfriend Cameron Diaz revived it, with Fallon, while promoting Fever Pitch, in April 2005. Timberlake and Fallon returned in December 2006, May 2009, and May 2011, before their final skit prior to tonight's episode in December 2013. This particular skit featured a surprise appearance by Barry Gibb, a year after the passing of his brother Robin.
