Samsung has unveiled its latest lineup of innovative devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and new Galaxy Watches. Alongside these releases, Google has announced significant updates across multiple apps tailored for these new devices.

Gemini for Android: Enhanced for Foldable Devices

Google is updating its Gemini app for Android to better suit foldable devices. This update introduces new functions like overlay and split-screen interfaces, making it easier to use on devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

You can now swipe the corner of the screen or say “Hey Google” to activate Gemini, signaling a possible farewell to the traditional Google Assistant. This new version allows users to ask questions about videos they are watching on YouTube, enhancing the interactive experience. These features will be available on the new Galaxy foldable devices soon.

Expanding "Circle to Search"

Earlier this year, Google launched its “Circle to Search” feature at Samsung’s Galaxy S24 event. Today, Google announced an extension of this feature’s functionality. The new version will support solutions for symbolic math equations and scanning barcodes and QR codes. This expansion makes “Circle to Search” a more versatile tool for users. Google also mentioned that this updated version would be available on more devices later this year, broadening its accessibility and usefulness.

YouTube's Multiview Feature

In May, YouTube introduced its multiview feature for Android phones and tablets. This feature lets users watch up to four YouTube TV streams at the same time. Today, Google confirmed that this feature would be supported on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Subscribers can select combinations of content such as football, news, weather, and other simultaneous sporting events. This enhancement aims to provide a more immersive and versatile viewing experience for users, particularly those using Samsung’s latest foldable devices.

Wear OS 5 on Galaxy Watches

Google introduced Wear OS 5 at the Google I/O developer conference earlier this year, highlighting performance and battery life enhancements. Today, Samsung announced that its Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra would ship with Wear OS 5. This integration promises a more efficient and user-friendly experience for Galaxy Watch users, incorporating the latest advancements in wearable technology.

Collaborative Innovation

The collaboration between Samsung and Google highlights the companies' commitment to providing cutting-edge technology and seamless user experiences. The new features and updates reflect a shared vision of enhancing device functionality and user interaction.

Samsung’s new devices, coupled with Google’s app enhancements, represent a significant step forward in mobile and wearable technology. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, with their foldable screens, offer a glimpse into the future of smartphones, providing users with more flexible and versatile usage options. The integration of Google’s enhanced Gemini app and the multiview feature on YouTube further enriches the user experience, making these devices more interactive and user-friendly.

The expansion of the “Circle to Search” feature and the introduction of Wear OS 5 on Galaxy Watches also demonstrate a focus on practical, everyday applications that enhance productivity and convenience. Whether solving complex math equations, scanning barcodes, or enjoying extended battery life and performance on smartwatches, these updates cater to a wide range of user needs.
