Police arrested a man on suspicion of aggravated assault while searching for his missing wife in Flagstaff, Arizona. Kelly Paduchowski, 45, was reported missing on Sunday. Investigators now believe she was murdered. The search focuses on finding her body. Sgt. Jerry Rintala of the Flagstaff Police Department provided these details at a news conference on Tuesday.

Sgt. Jerry Rintala stated that Kelly's husband, Daniel Paduchowski, 58, is suspected in her death. Detectives arrested Daniel after finding undisclosed evidence at their Flagstaff-area home.

Police noted that interviews with witnesses and family provided additional evidence. Sgt. Rintala mentioned that more charges might follow as the investigation continues. It remains unclear if Daniel Paduchowski has legal counsel. The local public defender's office did not respond to a request for comment on Tuesday night.

Flagstaff police reported that Daniel Paduchowski called in his wife's disappearance on Sunday at 7:39 p.m. He claimed Kelly went out to run and swim in the afternoon, according to NBC affiliate KPNX. Investigators traced her phone to Schultz Creek Trail in the Coconino National Forest, north of Flagstaff, at 10:20 a.m. on Sunday. Daniel was seen in the area just over an hour later, police stated.

Kelly's phone showed it was at their home shortly after noon, but her vehicle was at Campbell Mesa Trailhead around 1:30 p.m., also in the forest north of Flagstaff. Daniel was seen there at that time, according to police. Authorities released images of Kelly's white 2018 Mazda CX-5 and Daniel's silver or gray 2001 Toyota Sequoia SUV, asking anyone who saw the vehicles or the couple to contact investigators.
