Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at around 5 a.m. and found the bodies of three children and two adults inside a home.
The juvenile suspect has been taken into custody, but it remains unclear what relationship, if any, existed between the shooter and the victims. Another teenager, who was injured, was taken to a Seattle hospital. This heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock and mourning.
The suspect was prepared to be processed into jail on Monday. According to the King County sheriff's office, the juvenile may face first-degree or second-degree murder charges.
The sheriff's office further said that there was no record of previous police interactions at the home where the shooting took place.
Snoqualmie Valley School District Superintendent Dan Schlotfeldt expressed in a statement that the children involved were not enrolled in the district's schools, but that counselors and support staff would be accessible for anyone in need.
“We understand that incidents like this can impact everyone, including our students,” he stated.
