The country has decided to change the visa rules under the guidance of Sheikh Fahd Al Yusuf, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait.
Under the new rules, expatriates who want to bring their families to Kuwait will have to go through more rigors.
Previously, family visa could be applied only if the salary was 800 Kuwaiti dinars. But that is no longer possible.
Under the new rules, a minimum salary of 800 Kuwaiti dinars and a university degree are required to get a family visa. Along with that, the educational qualification should match with the job.
The changes have been made to improve the efficiency and security of the visa application process, in line with Ministerial Decree No. 56 of 2024. It is recommended that applicants familiarize themselves with the updated guidelines to ensure a smoother application process.
As part of making the family visa process easier, the new rules have been applied. Apart from this, the rules have also been applied so that expatriates applying for this visa follow a specific framework.
Another major reason for changing the visa rules is that Kuwait wants educated and skilled expatriates to come to their country through this visa.
Furthermore, a new system is being proposed to Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, which includes the issuance of a special card and the requirement of health insurance for visitors, including parents of children over 16. Siblings will not be eligible for visas, and the cost of health insurance could be as high as KD 500.
The maximum length of visits may also be extended to one month. To avoid any penalties, applicants must ensure that visitors leave promptly after their stay. Failure to do so could lead to serious consequences, including a permanent visa ban for the sponsoring residents.
The Kuwait family visit visa is available to immediate family members and other relatives residing in other countries who want to visit their family members living in Kuwait. There are no specific eligibility criteria for this type of visa; as long as the traveler can provide proof of their relationship, they can visit Kuwait with a Kuwait Visit Visa.
To apply for the Kuwait family visit visa, the following documents must be submitted:
1. Visa application form.
2. Copy of the visitor's passport, which should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application.
3. One recent passport-sized photograph with a white background.
4. Proof of kinship. It is important to note that certificates issued by the Embassy Department are not accepted as proof.
5. Recent salary certificate, if the foreign provider or sponsor is employed in the government sector or a computer-generated certificate.
6. Original and copy of the civil ID of the sponsor or the family residing in Kuwait.
7. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).
