Trump faced serious danger when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Melania described the incident as a “horrible, distressing experience” for their family in a video shared on X this Tuesday.

“Now, the silence around it weighs heavily. I can't help but question: Why weren’t law enforcement officials able to detain the shooter before the rally?”

In a compelling 30-second video released on the social media platform X as part of her new memoir promotion, Trump insists there is “definitely more to the story.”

She specifically highlights the law enforcement's failure to detain the assailant, Thomas Crooks, prior to the near-fatal shooting of Donald Trump at the campaign event in western Pennsylvania.

The video ends with a photo of her upcoming book, “Melania,” along with a link for purchasing copies. The release is set for the second week of October.

She shared the video the same day of Trump’s debate against his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.

House Republicans have initiated a task force to investigate the assassination attempt on the former president, and the Secret Service continues its inquiry.

It remains unclear what the assassination attempt has to do with Melania Trump’s book, which will be out on October 1st. She announced her memoir about two weeks following the attempt, and it is uncertain whether the incident will be addressed in the book.

Many questions arise concerning the assassination attempt, including how shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks managed to access the rooftop of a building within Trump's line of sight.

Additionally, there are inquiries about the Secret Service’s involvement in comparison to local law enforcement and if both agencies coordinated effectively on that day.

The shooter fired at Trump from approximately 150 yards away, positioned on a rooftop near the outdoor rally but outside the venue, which allowed him to avoid the standard security checks that attendees faced.

It remains uncertain why the Secret Service did not secure that part of the area or why police took so long to react to the shooting. A bullet grazed Trump's ear, causing in bleeding.

Later Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle acknowledged that her agency did not succeed in its duty to protect the former president.

"The Secret Service's critical mission is to safeguard our country’s leaders. On July 13th, we did not fulfill that duty," she stated.

Donald Trump has remarked that the incident "affected him." He detailed on it during his address to the Republican National Committee.

Melania Trump was absent from the rally in Butler, Pa., where the assassination attempt occurred. She later issued a statement showing her love for her husband.
