Missoula voters will have the opportunity to approve a levy increase to provide more funding for the Missoula Fire Department in June. If passed, the increase would get $7 million annually.

This funding would allow for the addition of a sixth fire engine company, as well as the purchase of new equipment and improvements to department facilities. If approved, taxpayers can expect to pay an additional $46 per year for every $100,000 of assessed property value, or approximately $189.66 for the median home value in Missoula.
The proposed levy aims to provide $7 million annually for the expansion of the Missoula Fire Department, including adding a sixth station, hiring more firefighters, and acquiring additional equipment.
On Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, a Missoula City Council committee approved the resolution, which will now be considered by the full city council.
