Los Angeles evacuees warned to stay away from home for at least another week

One person has been arrested in connection with the death of Friends star Matthew Perry. The 54-year-old actor was found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home last October. Authorities revealed that Matthew Perry’s death was due to "the acute effects of ketamine," a powerful drug he was using under medical supervision.

Ketamine, a drug often used to treat depression and pain, was found in very high levels in Matthew Perry’s body. This was concerning since Perry hadn't had a supervised session of the drug for over a week. Experts stated that the ketamine levels were too high to have come from recent therapy.

The LA police launched an investigation in May to determine how Perry had so much ketamine in his system. ABC News and TMZ reported multiple arrests, while other sources, like NBC News, confirmed at least one arrest. Police will provide more details in a press conference later on Thursday.

Matthew Perry’s death was ruled an accident, with drowning listed as a contributing factor. Other factors included heart disease and the effects of buprenorphine, a drug used to treat opioid addiction. Perry had a long history of struggling with addiction, battling painkillers and alcohol throughout his career.

In his memoir, Perry detailed his battle with substance abuse. He revealed that he had been mostly sober since 2001 but had faced many setbacks. Besides his struggles, Perry’s legacy on Friends remains a cherished part of TV history.
