Pilot Dies in Tragic Small Plane Crash in Coatesville, Pennsylvania

A plane crashed in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania on Thursday afternoon, caused the death of an person. The incident took place shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Old Wilmington Road, located in West Caln Township.

Initial reports from emergency dispatches indicated that a small aircraft had crashed in a field. Emergency officials have confirmed that one person lost their life in the crash, and fortunately, none of the nearby residences were affected. In response to the incident, the county coroner's office was summoned to the scene.

According to officials from the Federal Aviation Administration, the sole occupant of the aircraft during the crash was the pilot.

Dr. Steven Leveer, the superintendent of Octorara Area School District, has officially announced on the district's website that the sole occupant of the aircraft during the crash was School Board President Sam Ganow, who was pilot.

In a heartfelt statement, Dr. Leveer expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of Mr. Ganow, highlighting his significant contributions to both the school board and the community. With an impressive tenure of 26 years, Mr. Ganow's unwavering dedication to education and relentless efforts to improve the educational journey of students have left an indelible mark on the school district.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, only the pilot was on board during the accident. The plane involved was identified as a twin-engine Gulfstream American GA-7. Skyforce10 captured footage of the crashed plane in what appears to be a backyard, near the tree line behind a house. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are jointly investigating the incident.

 Although Chester County Airport is in close proximity, it remains uncertain whether the plane had taken off from or was in route to the airport.
