In a new interview with Extra, right before the 19th season of Sister Wives, Janelle and Christine shared how they feel about Kody. Even though they are no longer with him, both women wish Kody would rebuild his bond with their kids.

Kody has 18 children with Janelle, Christine, his ex-wife Meri, and his current wife Robyn. But his relationship with many of the children has become strained. Both Janelle and Christine are sad about this and hope Kody will make an effort to fix it.
Christine, who is now married to David Woolley, talked about how she feels for Kody. “I wish he had a relationship with his kids,” Christine said. “His kids are some of the best people I know, and I love having them in my life.”
For Janelle, the children are the heart of the family. She believes they keep everyone together, even after the parents have split. “I feel like we’re all connected because of the kids,” she said.
Christine, however, had another idea. She believes that she and Janelle are the ones who keep the family bonded. “I think it’s us,” she said. “We stayed close as ‘sister wives,’ even after our breakups with Kody.”
But Janelle believes the kids are still the glue holding everyone together. She even mentioned that the kids have a secret group chat that neither she nor Christine are part of. “The kids have their own chat,” Janelle explained. “They talk to each other, and we don’t always know what’s going on.”

Both women want Kody to talk to his children more often. Christine said she encourages her kids to stay in touch with their dad. “I told my kids, ‘When your dad calls, you should pick up and talk to him. He’s your dad, and you need to respect that,’” she shared.
While Christine wants the kids to answer Kody’s calls, Janelle believes it’s Kody’s job to fix the situation. “There’s a big gap between Kody and the kids,” Janelle said. “It can be repaired, but Kody needs to put in the effort.”
Despite their differences with Kody, both Janelle and Christine hope he will take the steps to rebuild his relationship with the children.
Janelle and Kody share six children: Logan, 29, Madison, 27, Hunter, 27, Garrison, who sadly passed away in 2024 at age 25, Gabriel, 22, and Savanah, 19. Christine and Kody also share six children: Aspyn, 28, Mykelti, 27, Paedon, 25, Gwendlyn, 22, Ysabel, 20, and Truely, 13.
Janelle opened up about the loss of her son, Garrison, who passed away earlier this year. She mentioned that after Garrison’s death, she talked to Kody more. “Of course, I was interacting with Kody more,” she said, explaining that they came together as a family.
Even though it was a hard time for them, Janelle said the family has gotten closer. “We’ve really come together,” Janelle explained. “We ask each other about how we’re feeling and really listen to the answers. We don’t just ignore things.”
