Trump Claims Zelenskyy Wants Democrats To Win 2024 Election

On Monday, September 23, former President Donald Trump spoke at a rally in Pennsylvania. He said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants the Democrats to win the 2024 U.S. election. Trump is running against Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate.

Trump’s comments were different from what some of his supporters have said. They think that Ukraine would prefer Trump to be president again because they believe he could make peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin. 

At the rally, Trump praised Zelenskyy, calling him "the greatest salesman in history." He mentioned that every time Zelenskyy visits the U.S., he gets around $60 billion in aid.

"I think he wants them to win this election so badly," Trump said. He promised that if he wins, he will try to make peace with Russia and end the war in Ukraine. However, Trump did not give any details about how he would do this. He only said he would talk to both Zelenskyy and Putin if he wins the election on November 5.

Zelenskyy was in the U.S. to attend a big meeting called the United Nations General Assembly. While there, he said that strong actions by the United States could help end the war with Russia by next year. 

He visited a weapons factory in Pennsylvania over the weekend. This visit upset some of Trump’s supporters because it happened in a state that is important for the election.

People with Eastern European backgrounds, like Ukrainian-Americans and Polish-Americans, are becoming an important group for both political parties. This is especially true in Pennsylvania, which has many Polish and Ukrainian residents.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. and its allies have given billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine. They have also put many sanctions on Russia. Trump has often criticized this aid, saying it is a waste of money. He has not said that he wants Ukraine to win the war.

Although Trump spoke with Zelenskyy on the phone in July, they have not met in person since Trump was president from 2017 to 2021. Zelenskyy has said he is not sure what Trump would do if he wins the election, but he hopes he would keep U.S. military support for Ukraine.

In a past interview, Zelenskyy said working with Trump would be "hard work," but he believes they could get it done together.

The ongoing war in Ukraine has caused many deaths and forced millions of people to leave their homes. Cities in Ukraine have been badly damaged because of the fighting.

President Putin has said that peace talks can only start if Ukraine gives up some of its land in the east and south. He also wants Ukraine to drop its plans to join NATO. On the other hand, Zelenskyy has called for all Russian troops to leave Ukraine and for the country’s borders to go back to what they were after the Soviet Union.
