Voting for the 12th parliamentary election of Bangladesh has started. From city to village, city to port - everywhere the festive mood is going. The polling started at 8 am. It will continue till 4 pm of today (7 January ).
Voters want to put their rights by voting as the opportunity to choose public representatives comes after five years. The representative of choice will be elected without fear of anyone.
At beginning, Awami League President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina put her vote in the ballot for the 12th National Parliament Election.
Daughter of Sheikh Hasina, Saima Wazed also voted after her vote in Dhaka City College pooling center today.
Total 11 crore 96 lakh 89 thousand 289 voters will elect the next ruler of the country through this vote.
Among them, 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 are men, and 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 are women. Besides, the number of third gender voters is 852.
Voting is going on in 299 seats today. Due to the death of an independent candidate, the Naogaon-2 seat will go to polls later. There are 2 lakh 61 thousand 912 polling booths in 42 thousand 103 centers across the country. Voting is being done using ballot papers in all the seats.
20 thousand 773 local observers will monitor the 12th National Parliament election. Apart from this, there are more than two hundred foreign observers. Foreign media workers are also among them.
After the counting of votes is over, each presiding officer shall send sealed packets containing the used ballot papers, the vote counting statement and the account of the ballot papers to the returning officer directly or through the assistant returning officer. He will determine the result of each candidate by adding the results received from the presiding officers.
A total of 1 thousand 970 candidates are participating the election. Among them, 1 thousand 534 candidates of 28 political parties. The remaining 436 are independent candidates.
Awami League has given the maximum number of 266 candidates. Apart from this, the Jatiya Party has given 265 candidates.
The third highest 135 candidates are of Trinamool BNP who came to the election with the symbol of 'Sonali ash'. 122 candidates from National People's Party, 96 candidates from Bangladesh Congress, 56 candidates from Bangladesh Nationalist Movement.
