The T20 World Cup in 2024 will mark the ninth edition of the tournament, where men's national teams compete in Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The event is organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States, the tournament will take place from 1 June to 29 June 2024. This will be the first time matches are held in the United States. The current champions are England, who emerged victorious by defeating Pakistan in the final of the previous edition.
The tournament will see the participation of 20 teams, an increase from the 16 teams in the 2022 edition. Alongside the two hosting countries, the top eight teams from the previous tournament automatically qualified, as did the next two teams ranked in the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings. The remaining eight teams earned their place through a regional qualification process. Canada, Uganda, and the United States will be making their debut appearances in the T20 World Cup.
Fawwaz Baskh, the Tournament Director, urged the local fan base to take advantage of the available window to pre-register for tickets. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 is eagerly anticipated, as it will be the biggest event ever held in the West Indies. Of the 20 teams participating in the 29-day tournament, ten will have their first match in the USA. Lauderhill, Florida; Dallas, Texas; and Nassau County, New York will host a total of 16 matches. The remaining 39 matches will take place in six different Caribbean countries.
The semi-finals will be held in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago on June 26 and 27 respectively, with the final match taking place in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
