Zee Media Website Hacked: Accused of Making Fun of Bangladesh Flood Situation

SYSTEMADMINBD hackers defaced Zee Media’s website over flood-related comments on Bangladesh. The site still down as hackers warn of further action.

On August 21, Zee Media’s website, zeemedia.in, was defaced by hackers from the group SYSTEMADMINBD. The incident has drawn significant attention due to the message left by the hackers and the nature of the defacement.

When visitors tried to access the Zee Media homepage, they were greeted with a screenshot of a ZEE TV Bangla news article. 

The translated headline read, "India released the water! Bangladesh is now submerged." The article included statements that appeared to mock the ongoing flood situation in Bangladesh. One such statement read, "Due to the flood, the authorities have opened the dam of the Dambur hydroelectric project. As a result, Bangladesh is about to float."

The hackers made it clear why they targeted Zee Media. They left a bold message on the website, stating, "Webserver seized by SYSTEMADMINBD – The Zee Media site was hacked because they made fun of the situation in Bangladesh. If they continue with their dirty behavior, we will take over and destroy the news channel."

Who Are the SYSTEMADMINBD Hackers?

SYSTEMADMINBD is not new to the world of hacking. Active since April 2023, this hacktivist group has been involved in various cyber activities. Their targets have ranged from government websites in Bangladesh and India to businesses in Israel and Europe.

The defacement of a major media outlet like Zee Media marks a significant escalation in their actions. It shows their willingness to use current events to push their agenda.
