Valencia, Spain, is about to get a brand-new shopping center that promises to be one of the largest in the area. With an estimated investment of over £294 million (€350 million), this massive project will change the landscape of Malilla, a district in the southern part of the city.
Valencia City Council has given the green light for construction, which will be next to the Neuva Fe, near La Fe Hospital and the Turianova real estate development.
The project, named Infinity, is set to open its doors by 2026. When complete, it will cover more than 330,000 square meters, offering plenty of space for shoppers and visitors.
Infinity will house 222 retail spaces spread across several floors. These shops will include everything from popular global brands to smaller local stores. The center will also provide a variety of leisure and entertainment options, making it a fun destination for families, friends, and tourists.
A Shopping Paradise with More Than Just Stores
The Infinity shopping center will be much more than just a place to shop. It will include cinemas, fitness centers, and unique entertainment features like a wave pool and a climbing wall. So, whether you're looking to watch a movie, stay active, or try something new, Infinity will have something for everyone.
Parking will be plentiful as well. The center will offer over 3,800 spaces for cars and 4,000 spaces for bicycles. This ensures that visitors will always find a spot, no matter how busy it gets.
Juan Giner, Valencia’s urban planning councillor, is excited about what this project will bring to the city. He shared, “This public-private initiative will bring investment, new jobs, and growth to Valencia.”
Mixed Reactions to the Project
While many people are excited about the new shopping center, not everyone is on board. Opposition socialist councillor, Javier Mateo, has voiced concerns.
He believes that the city is being overwhelmed with shopping centers, which could harm local communities and small businesses. He argued that the growth of large retail spaces might draw attention away from local commerce, making it harder for smaller shops to thrive.
Infinity isn’t the first large shopping destination in Valencia. The city already boasts several popular malls, including Centro Comercial Aqua Multiespacio. This shopping center, located near the City of Arts and Sciences, offers a variety of stores, restaurants, and a cinema, making it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.
Though having mixed opinions, Infinity is moving forward and is expected to create new opportunities for jobs and leisure in Valencia. Its location near major developments like La Fe Hospital and the Turianova area will likely make it a central hub for residents and visitors.
As construction begins, residents of Valencia can look forward to a new place to shop, eat, and have fun. By 2026, Infinity may become a go-to destination for anyone visiting the southern part of the city.
