4 Dead in Northern Thailand As Floods From Typhoon Yagi Hit

Typhoon Yagi has brought heavy rains to northern Thailand, causing big problems. The storm has caused floods and landslides, leading to the death of four people. Thousands of homes are also affected.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said the government is sending help to about 9,000 families who are struggling due to the floods. The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department confirmed that two people died in a landslide in Chiang Mai, and two more people died in Chiang Rai, a province next to Myanmar.

The health ministry is helping by sending doctors, volunteers, and rescue workers. They are moving elderly people to safer places to protect them.

The weather experts have warned that heavy rains will continue until next Tuesday. This means there is a risk of more flash floods. They advise everyone to be careful from September 13 to 17 because of the expected heavy rain.

Thailand usually has monsoon rains every year. But climate change is making these storms stronger and more dangerous. This can lead to more severe flooding and landslides.

Since the rainy season began, 29 people have died in Thailand from weather-related disasters. The government is working hard to help those affected and support their recovery.
