58 members of the border security forces of the Myanmar junta government fled to Bangladesh in fear of their lives. Some of them are also shot. They have been sheltered at Tumbru Government Primary School in Bangladesh.
Bandarban District Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin confirmed this to the media on Sunday (February 4) night.
He said that till evening 58 members of Myanmar Border Guard Force have taken shelter in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, fierce fighting is going on inside Myanmar along the Ghumdhum-Tumbru border in Naikshyongchari, Bandarban. Arakan Army, a rebel group desperate to take over the military junta's BOP or checkpoint. In this regard, massive shootings have taken place between the two sides since Saturday (February 3) night.
Explosive parts of their fired bullets, mortar shells and rockets landed on houses in Ghumdhum-Tumbru border area of Naikxyongchari upazila inside Bangladesh. Although there were no casualties on Sunday (February 4), the shooting incident took the form of a war on a large scale.
The vast area of Ghumdhum-Tumbru region is shaking with the sound of shelling, mortar shelling and rockets every now and then. Not only that, Shamsul Alam, a resident of Rabindra Dhar Konar Para, a resident of Tumbru Hindupara, and a woman were injured in their firing. At one stage of fierce fighting, the members of the military junta were forced to retreat from the camp due to continuous attacks by the rebel group Arakan Army.
By evening, 58 members of the junta forces left the camp and took shelter inside Bangladesh. The residents of the entire area have been frightened by the shooting incident. No one is leaving the house in fear. Many have taken shelter elsewhere in fear of their lives. Many have spent sleepless nights at home in fear and anxiety. Parents are unable to send their children to school due to fear. Also, the local people are afraid to go to the agricultural fields and do their daily work.
Meanwhile, the administration of Bangladesh, has announced closure of 5 primary schools due to border tension. Traffic has been closed on some roads due to security reasons. Border residents are being evacuated to safe havens.
