The Tate brothers deny all charges. Romanian police confirmed the warrants for the men and ordered their detention for 24 hours.
Tate, a popular figure known for promoting an extremely masculine lifestyle, was accused of human trafficking, rape, and leading a criminal organization to exploit women in Romania. His brother Tristan and two Romanian women were also indicted in June on these charges, which they all denied.
A spokesperson for Tate announced on Tuesday that both brothers had been arrested since Monday evening, with warrants issued by the Westminster Magistrates Court. The spokesperson mentioned that the charges had previously been dismissed by the Crown Prosecution Service in 2017-2019 but have now resurfaced.
In June 2023, lawyers representing four women threatened Tate with a lawsuit in British courts for alleged sexual assault. The women, now in their late twenties and early thirties, claimed the incidents occurred in the 2010s when Tate was living in Britain. They were served legal papers by the law firm McCue Jury and Partners.
Mr. Tate has consistently said that Romanian prosecutors lack evidence against him and believe there is a conspiracy to silence him.
