According to the embassy, the incident occurred around 11pm on Sunday (18:00 GMT) in near to Jinnah International Airport, specifically targeted the Chinese personnel associated with the Port Qasim Electric Power Company.
The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the victims and their families.
Geo News in Pakistan reported that at least 10 individuals were injured in the explosion, along with some fatalities. The specific cause of the blast was not immediately determined, according to a provincial official cited by Geo News.
The Karachi police have not yet responded to requests for comment.
"The Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Pakistan hardly condemn this act of terrorism, express heartfelt condolences to the victims from both nations, and offer sincere sympathy to the injured and their families," according to the the statement. It also mentioned that China is collaborating with Pakistan to effectively manage the aftermath of the incident.
The embassy emphasized the necessity for the Pakistani authorities to implement practical and effective measures to safeguard the safety of Chinese citizens, organizations, and projects in Pakistan concurrently.
