Benapole Express rail fire in Dhaka: 4 dead bodies recovered, 2 suspects arrested: police

Four dead bodies have been recovered from the Benapole Express train after the fire at Golap Bagh in the capital, Dhaka. Police have arrested two suspects in the incident for questioning. Apart from this, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) termed the incident as 'obvious sabotage'.

On Friday night (January 5), the bodies were recovered after the fire was brought under control after a two-hour effort by the fire service, the organization said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the concerned authorities to investigate whether the incident of fire in the Benapole Express train at Gopi Bagh in the capital was sabotage or not.
RAB media wing director Khandaker Al Moin said that after the incident, detectives of several forces including RAB are investigating the reason behind the fire incident.
Several coaches including the power car of the train were gutted in the fire.
A couple of kilometers before reaching the destination Kamalapur, Dhaka, the train was forced to stop due to fire. By that time, three compartments of the train were burnt and four people including two children were killed and more than 30 people were injured and burnt. Previously, On December 19, Mohanganj Express was set on fire after leaving the airport station on its way to Dhaka from Mohanganj in Netrakona. Four people including mother and child died in that train which was forced to stop at Tejgaon station. Police termed that incident as sabotage.
Saying that the saboteurs have continuing their crimes, Mahid Uddin said, "It is true." Because of that many have been taken to the law. Many have been arrested, many have been identified. Today or tomorrow, they will face the law.
