In a segment of the CBS special honoring his 98 years of magic, Jane Seymour shared that amusing experience with the legendary actor.

As she went about her grocery shopping, she was surprised to spot Dick Van Dyke walking towards her. Uncertain if it was truly him, Jane soon became convinced when she saw people gathering around him. Without warning, Dick Van Dyke delighted everyone by impulsively breaking into a delightful song and dance routine.

Seymour exclaimed with excitement that - I was absolutely blown away by it. But the next day, to my surprise, he was there again. I couldn't help but ask, What's going on? And he replied, My wife always has something for me to do, she sends me out every day. He absolutely adored it. He transformed the grocery store into his personal stage.

Recently, Van Dyke, who is 98 years old, and Seymour, 72, shared the screen in the 2018 film Buttons: A Christmas Tale. The close friends were last seen together this Halloween, striking a pose for a festive photo alongside theater star Amy Manford and musician William Joseph.

Seymour told that the star of The Dick Van Dyke Show is also a master of Halloween haunted houses. You won't believe it, but Dick puts on the most incredible haunted house for Halloween, Seymour told. It's like a professional production. I had the pleasure of experiencing it a few weeks ago, and I have to say, it was beyond amazing.

Despite the joyous and dazzling nature of Thursday's special, there were also moments of mixed emotions. During the event, Van Dyke expressed his sadness at outliving long-time friends such as Norman Lear, who passed away at the age of 101 on December 5th.

In reminiscing about the past, Van Dyke confessed, I used to have a wonderful group of friends who would say kind things about me. But now, Mary Tyler Moore, Morey Amsterdam, Rose Marie, Carl Reiner, Norman Lear - all the people I cherished and associated with are no longer here. Consequently, I find myself needing to make new friends.

Fortunately for Van Dyke, he doesn't have to go far to meet new people. I'm grateful to say that people come to me, he remarked. I don't have to actively seek out friendships.
