The tragedy of the "Bayesian" yacht deepened as a fifth body was brought to shore off Sicily. The yacht, which sank earlier this week, has left behind sadness and many questions.

Early Thursday, Italian authorities carefully moved the latest victim from a rescue boat to an ambulance in the Sicilian port of Porticello. A CNN team on the scene saw the sad moment. Divers are still searching for one more missing person. On Wednesday, four other bodies were found in the wreck.

As investigators work to understand why the yacht sank, Giovanni Costantino, the CEO of The Italian Sea Group, defended the yacht’s safety. He called the "Bayesian" “unsinkable” in an interview with Sky News. Costantino stressed that sailing ships, like the Bayesian, are among the safest because of their design. He explained that the yacht’s structure should have made it impossible to sink.

Costantino expressed deep sadness and disbelief over the disaster. The "Bayesian," built in 2008 by Perini Navi, was bought by The Italian Sea Group in 2021. The British-flagged yacht was carrying 22 people when it sank quickly after its tall mast broke during a violent storm.

Fifteen people were rescued on Monday, but the sinking claimed the life of Recaldo Thomas, the onboard chef. Six others were reported missing, and now only one person is still missing as the search continues.

This tragic event has shocked the yachting world, leaving many to wonder how such a disaster could have happened.
