During Paramore's performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, Hayley Williams took a strong stance against Donald Trump, warning fans about Project 2025 and urging them to participate in voting.
As her band played their track, "Big Man, Little Dignity," the vocalist expressed concerns about the dangers of Project 2025, claiming it represents Trump’s strategy to harm women and other marginalized groups and LGBTQ+ individuals in the nation.
“It's crucial for all Americans to unite and stand against the Trump agenda, and the way to achieve that is through voting. Do you want to live under a dictatorship? Then make sure you get out and vote.”
Williams has consistently used her platform to criticize Republicans for their anti-LGBTQ+ stances, such as during a June 2023 concert in Washington, D.C., where she remarked, “If you vote for Ron DeSantis, you're dead to me. Does that sound clear enough?”
She finished her message by urging viewers to vote passionately into the camera.
While Williams and other media personalities, along with liberal politicians, continue to assert that Project 2025 – a strategic agenda from The Heritage Foundation for a potential conservative presidential term – is linked to Trump, the former president has denied any connection to Project 2025."
I don't agree with several points they made, and certain statements they’ve put forth are completely ridiculous and terrible, Trump said last month.
In early 2023, Williams took to Instagram to criticizes several Republican-backed bills focused at prohibiting drag performances in Tennessee when children are involved.
Drag is not a crime. Access to gender-affirming health care for everyone, especially our youth, is essential, she said, further emphasizing, “Once again, our state has enacted two regressive and incredibly damaging bills. We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community and local LGBTQIA+ organizations in this struggle, advocating not only for inclusion of our loved ones in the queer community but also for radical acceptance and empowerment for all.”
