Hollywood has arrived in Victoria to shoot an exciting new thriller for Netflix. The film, called "War Machine," is set to feature a star-studded cast and showcase the beauty of Victoria.
Alan Ritchson, known for his role in "Reacher," will star as the main hero in this sci-fi action film. The story follows Army Rangers as they face a terrifying new threat. Ritchson’s role is sure to bring intense action and drama to the screen.
Joining Ritchson is Dennis Quaid, who has starred in classics like "Far from Heaven" and "The Parent Trap." The film also features Jai Courtney from "Suicide Squad," Stephan James from "The Piano Lesson," and Esai Morales from "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One." Each of these stars will bring their own unique talents to the movie.
Australian actors are also part of the cast, including Blake Richardson from "Mystery Road: Origin," Keiynan Lonsdale from "The Flash," and Daniel Webber from "The Dirt." It’s exciting to see so many local stars working alongside Hollywood’s best.
The filming will take place in beautiful locations around Victoria, including Bright and Myrtleford, as well as Melbourne and Docklands Studios. These scenic spots will add a special touch to the movie.
Patrick Hughes, the local filmmaker behind the project, is thrilled to bring "War Machine" to life in his home country. After directing films overseas for many years, Hughes is excited to work on a blockbuster right here in Australia. He shared his excitement, saying, "It’s been a lifelong dream to bring Hollywood-style blockbusters home to Australia."
This film is not only a big deal for movie fans but also a significant boost for the local economy. "War Machine" is expected to create over 2,100 jobs in Victoria and inject $73 million into the state’s economy. Of that, $7.5 million will go directly to regional businesses.
Creative Industries Minister Colin Brooks is delighted about the project. He noted how the recent writer’s strike in the US had affected film production, but now, with big projects like this, Melbourne is becoming a top spot for movie making.
"War Machine" is just one of many international films being made in Victoria. Other movies like "All Her Fault" and "Beneath The Storm" have also chosen Victoria as their filming location. This trend highlights Victoria as a fantastic place for major movie productions.
