Israel has announced that it has started the next phase of its war with Hamas by expanding its ground operations in Gaza. Currently, numerous raids are being carried out by Israel in several Palestinian cities, making it increasingly challenging to keep track of the exact number. The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says the number of deaths in Gaza has now exceeded over 8,000.
The Israeli forces has declared that they are expanding their ground activities in northern Gaza, as the besieged region experiences the most extensive onslaught of Israeli attacks since the beginning of the conflict.
Hamas, the governing authority in the Gaza Strip, has vowed to respond with “full force” to the recent ground operations overnight. The Israeli army has confirmed that its troops are still active in the field as of Saturday morning.
"The war inside Gaza is going to be long," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Saturday.
“We are moving to the next phase of our war against Hamas in Gaza – from the air, land, and sea,” the army spokesman said in a video shared on social media.

According to an IDF spokesperson, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intends to intensify its warning to the civilians in Gaza, urging them to relocate to safer regions south of Wadi Gaza due to the ongoing expansion of ground operations in the area. In a video shared on Sunday morning via IDF social media, Hagari said that Civilians residing in northern Gaza, including Gaza City, should temporarily move to the southern areas of Wadi Gaza for their safety.
As Israel announces its expansion of the offensive in Gaza, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has made a pressing plea, urging for the protection of civilians.
“I am shocked by the intolerable level of human suffering and urge the parties to the conflict to deescalate now,” Mirjana Spoljaric said in a statement, urging the parties to respect international humanitarian law.
“The tragic loss of so many civilian lives is deplorable. It is unacceptable that civilians have no safe place to go in Gaza amid the massive bombardments, and with a military siege in place there is also no adequate humanitarian response currently possible. This is a catastrophic failing that the world must not tolerate.”
