During a New York civil fraud trial that poses a threat to the business empire of former President Donald Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump testified on Wednesday. She stated that she could not remember the specific details of real estate transactions she was involved in at her father's company.

Similar to her brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who testified in the previous week, Ivanka Trump aimed to disassociate herself from the fraudulent appraisal methods that have already been deemed deceptive by the presiding judge.
In contrast, Trump has admitted in court that certain assessments of golf courses, office towers, and other company assets were incorrect. The lawsuit, filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is a Democrat, alleges that Trump and his family businesses manipulated real estate values to deceive lenders and insurers, while also enhancing Trump's image as a prosperous entrepreneur.
It is important to note that Ivanka Trump is not named as a defendant in this case, unlike her siblings and father.
During her tenure as a high-ranking executive at the Trump Organization from 2011 to 2017, Ivanka emphasized her efforts in revitalizing the Doral golf course in Florida and the Old Post Office property in Washington.
During the trial, evidence was presented wherein she referred to a 2011 email, acknowledging concerns regarding Deutsche Bank's stipulation that her father maintain a minimum net worth of $3 billion. Nevertheless, she urged company officials to proceed with approval.
“We wanted to get a great rate and the only way to get proceeds/term and principal where we want them is to guarantee the deal,” she wrote to a Trump Organization lawyer.
While testifying, she expressed her support for the agreement but admitted that she couldn't recall the precise details. "I felt generally that the deal terms with Deutsche Bank for Doral were positive," she said.
Despite facing numerous legal troubles, Trump continues to lead in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing, accusing James and Justice Arthur Engoron of being biased and engaging in "election interference." Trump took to social media on Tuesday to express his dismay that Ivanka was being compelled to testify, describing it as "Sad!"
During his testimony, Trump displayed a defiant and rambling demeanor. He admitted that valuations for his properties were occasionally inaccurate but insisted that these errors were insignificant and did not affect the financial institutions' assessment of deals.
While Donald Jr. and Eric Trump testified the previous week that they were not responsible for the financial documents central to the case, evidence such as emails and other documents indicated their potential involvement to a greater extent than their testimony suggested.
During her father's term in the White House from 2017 to 2021, Ivanka joined him while her brothers took charge of the family company. However, James claims that Ivanka was still involved in manipulating property values. "Although she will try to distance herself from the company today, the truth is that she was significantly involved," James stated on the courthouse steps.
Engoron's ruling, which found Trump, his adult sons, and 10 of their companies guilty of fraud, exposes how the defendants fabricated valuations. While this ruling could potentially remove Trump's control over some of his well-known properties, the order has been temporarily put on hold pending an appeal.
James is seeking $250 million in fines and aiming for restrictions that would prevent Trump and his adult sons from conducting business in New York.
Aside from this particular case, Trump faces four distinct criminal cases, two of which are consequences of his endeavors to invalidate Democrat Joe Biden's triumph in the 2020 presidential election.
However, despite these legal battles, opinion polls indicate that he is significantly ahead of his Republican opponents in the race against Biden for the upcoming year.
