A new petition is getting a lot of attention after the sad death of singer Liam Payne. This petition asks for changes to the laws that help artists with their mental health. So far, it has gathered over 24,000 signatures.

Liam Payne was a member of the famous boy band One Direction. He passed away at just 31 years old on October 16. He fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His unexpected death has made many people think about the mental health problems artists face in the spotlight.

The petition was started on Change.org by a person named Day Kv. They want to make sure that artists are protected and supported throughout their careers.

Day wrote, “The entertainment industry needs to be responsible for the welfare of their artists.” They are asking lawmakers to create rules that will help keep artists mentally healthy.

The petition calls for several important changes. It asks for regular mental health check-ups for artists, enough time for rest, and the presence of mental health experts on set.

They also want ongoing support for artists as they go through their careers. This petition gained nearly 25,000 signatures over the weekend, showing that many people support these changes.

Other musicians also think this change is necessary. Mikey Graham, a member of the band Boyzone, spoke out after Payne's death. He believes that record labels should take care of their artists' mental health. Graham, who has faced fame himself, called for companies to hire psychologists to help young stars.

He shared his thoughts on social media. Graham wrote, “Rip Liam Payne. Such tragic news.

I think it would be wise for record companies to have psychologists on their team to help their young talent.” He pointed out that being famous can be hard, especially when there are “lots of yes people” around and “nobody honest” to help those who are struggling.

The details of Liam Payne’s death are still being investigated by authorities in Argentina. Reports say that various substances were found in his hotel room. In the past, Payne had talked about his struggles with alcohol and prescription drugs. He shared these challenges during an interview on Steven Bartlett's podcast, The Diary of a CEO.

Payne said that during his time with One Direction, he didn’t like himself very much. He explained that those years were filled with “pills and booze” and that sometimes he had thoughts about ending his life. He talked about the pressure of fame and how it affected his mental health.

In his interview, Payne explained how things got worse during tours. He said that when the band became famous, they were often kept in hotel rooms for days.

“What’s in the room? A mini-bar,” he said. He realized he started to throw “parties for one,” leading to many years of struggling with alcohol. Looking back, he felt shocked by how long he had been drinking.
