At 10 am (local time) in the oath room of the National Parliament, the swearing-in of the new members of Parliament elected in the 12th National Parliament election was held. The Speaker entered the oath chamber at 10:08 AM in local time.

Newly elected Members of Parliament read the oath in the 12th National Parliament. The oath was taken in the morning of Wednesday (January 10) in the oath chamber of the first level of the East Block of National Parliament in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury recited their oath. Before this, the speaker takes the oath herself as per the rules.
On Wednesday (January 10) at 10:16 in the morning, the MPs were sworn in by Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
Those concerned said that after taking the oath, the parliamentarians signed the oath book. After that they will complete other formalities in the secretary's office. They will participate in the Awami League parliamentary party meeting at 12 noon.
Yesterday, the Election Commission published the results of the 12th National Parliament elections in the form of a gazette.
According to the provisions of the constitution, the oath must be taken as a member of parliament within three days of publication of the gazette. He will be deemed to have assumed office only after taking the oath.
Awami League, the majority party in Parliament, will discuss and select their leader. The President will then call on the leader of the majority party to form the government. The second largest majority party sitting and electing their leader shall make a written request to the Speaker for the recognition of the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.
According to the rules, after the election of the Leader of Parliament and the swearing-in of the Prime Minister, the Speaker will send a proposal to the President for convening the first session of the new Parliament subject to consultation with him. After that, the President will convene the Parliament session. It is known that this session may be convened on January 28 or 30. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the new Parliament will be elected at the beginning of the session.
It is to be noted that the election of 299 constituencies was held simultaneously across the country on Sunday, January 7. The election commission has announced the results of 298 seats privately. According to the list given by the commission, out of 298 seats, Awami League won 222 seats and got a single majority.
In the election, Jatiya Party won 11 seats, Workers Party, Jasad and Kalyan Party were elected in one seat each. Besides, independent candidates have won 62 seats.
