The president of Bangladesh Md. Sahabuddin voted in the 12th national parliament election through postal ballot. After voting, the President called upon the citizens of the country to vote spontaneously in the January 7 parliamentary elections.

Today, Wednesday (January 3) at noon, the president, voter of Pabna Sadar. Sahabuddin and his wife Dr. Rebecca Sultana voted through postal ballot at Bangabhaban.
The President urged the citizens to fulfill their civic duties by voting in the twelfth national election. Sahabuddin said, let us vote ourselves and encourage others to vote.
President Sahabuddin said that voting is a democratic right of people. As a citizen it is our duty to vote. People give their democratic verdict through voting. Voting is the most acceptable method of electing leadership in a democratic system.
The President expressed hope that the election would be held in a peaceful and festive atmosphere with the participation of all.
According to Article 27 of the Representation of the People Order (RPO), the Head of State is able to vote by postal ballot.
Registered voters, those in prison or under legal custody, expatriate Bangladeshis and polling officers, can put their right to vote through postal ballot in the upcoming 12th Parliamentary Elections.
Four types of voters who are unable to go to the polling station can put their right to vote by mail (postal ballot). This provision has been implemented since the ninth national parliament election. Campaign initiative has been taken by the Election Commission to encourage voting by postal ballot in this year's parliamentary elections.
In the recently held inter-ministerial meeting, the election commission directed the campaign among the concerned parties including the Bangladesh mission abroad to encourage voting by postal ballot.
The Returning Officer of Election Commission will consider the postal votes received by them within the time limit and declare the final result after counting those votes.
